Our 1988 VW Jetta Carat recently over heated and I have decided not to continue driving it at this point in time; it would be easiest to replace the engine and transmission, converting it to one of the several modifications [16V - V6 - 1.8t - 2.0t].
At this point it makes an excellent project car for someone industrious, especially if you do a conversion, as many do with these older mk2 or A2 Jetta's for someone wanting to make it into a manual car with a [16-V engine or V6 or 1.8t for that matter] - at least I think so.

This is originally a California car, so it has essentially no rust.

As it has not been acquired as expected, it will only be available complete for a short time [month], after that, I will simply disassemble it for parts and discard it.

previously, i was reluctant to remove parts, however at this point it is an option and i will make a list of interest and most likely sell anything by the end of October which is my intended deadline for selling the complete car - a shame if it comes to that as non-rusted bodies are not generally
